The enchanting beaches of Sabah recently received a royal touch as Krystyna Pyszková, the reigning Miss World, participated in a beach cleanup at Pantai Dalit Beach. Accompanied by the Miss World team, including Chairman and CEO Julia Morley CBE, the visit emphasized environmental conservation in this idyllic paradise.
Sabah, located on the northern part of Borneo, is celebrated for its stunning natural landscapes, including the majestic 4,095-meter-tall Mount Kinabalu. Known for its unspoiled beaches, lush rainforests, vibrant coral reefs, and diverse wildlife, Sabah is truly an ecological haven.
The beach cleanup was led by Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment in Sabah and Chairman of the Sabah Tourism Board. Joining the efforts were Datuk Mohd Pintaz, Chairman of Tuaran Rally, and the dedicated team from Rasa Ria. The initiative aimed to maintain the pristine condition of Pantai Dalit Beach, a crucial natural barrier filtering out debris from the South China Sea.
The day began at sunrise with an early-morning cleanup. Sailors from various countries, part of an international yachting event, collaborated with Sail Malaysia's Managing Director, Mr. Sazli Kamal Basha, to launch the effort. The afternoon saw a larger cleanup session, involving the Miss World team and local volunteers, collecting a total of 495 kilograms of hazardous debris.
Julia Morley praised the initiative, stating, "We congratulate Datuk Joniston Bangkuai and the people of Sabah. We hope their efforts will inspire similar proactive actions worldwide from other coastal communities to preserve our precious environment."
Datuk Joniston Bangkuai added, "Healthy beaches are vital for our ecosystem, supporting marine life and preventing pollution. Julia Morley and Krystyna's participation sends a global message that preserving our coastal areas is a shared responsibility."
The commitment of Sabah's community to environmental preservation is unwavering, ensuring that this paradise remains pristine for future generations. Thank you, Sabah!
