Shrinkhala Khatiwada, originally hailing from Hetauda, was crowned Miss Nepal 2018 on 11th April 2018 at Hotel Annapurna in Kathmandu. She represented Nepal at Miss World 2018 where she was placed at Top 12. Not only this, she was also the winner of Multimedia Award along with the coveted Beauty with a Purpose award.
The 24-year-old diva comes from a family with a political background as her father is a leader who was elected as a member of Central Parliament. Her mother is a President of CPN and a member of state parliament. Shrinkhala is a National Chancellor for the International Association of Educators for World Peace (IAEWP) and President of the One Home Foundation.
The diva has studied Architecture from Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus and was the batch topper as she scored the first rank in semester 4, 9 and 10. The diva is fond of writing and poetry and aspires to be the first Lady Prime Minister of Nepal. She wants to continue pursuing her architecture expertise in future for the wellbeing of humans in her homeland, Nepal.
The diva who was awarded the Beauty with a Purpose award at Miss World 2018 has worked closely with humanitarian welfare programs in Nepal. She is working on Health Post Project for Chepang community in Kailash Rural Municipality.
Shrinkhala established One Home Foundation which supports a proposed project Health Post for the Chepang community at Kailash rural municipality. It aims at building homes along with the supply of essential medical equipment as per government guidelines. This foundation was established after she won Miss Nepal 2018 title and with certain objectives of contributing to the design and construction of the health post, providing necessary furniture and equipment for its operation and coordinating with Government and concerned authorities seeking for the authority, permission and possible support for the project implementation.
Post her reign, Shrinkhala mentioned that her journey at Miss World 2018 has been an incredible one as she got a chance to meet different people from all over the world and know about their opinions and thoughts. She also mentioned that during her journey she worked on her grooming which means mental, physical, personal and intellectual grooming. The diva has always aspired to be a positive role model for youth and has used her stature for positive changes in Nepal.
Shrinkhala has always stood up for what is right and one such incident was when a video of a judge chastising a Miss Nepal aspirant for not wearing makeup and showing up in glasses got viral. Shrinkhala Khatiwada posted a selfie in which she appeared without makeup with the hashtag #nomakeupandstillbeautiful. She is one of the positive and enthusiast delegates from Nepal who have always maintained her calm and compose temperament to impress anyone she meets.
The diva has used her voice in a positive way and advocated people about the women empowerment along with some issues that can be addressed to her nation. She has surely made a massive growth in Nepal and is one of the most loved beauty queens. Shrinkhala has restored faith of many people about beauty pageants. As people have always felt that beauty pageants objectified women and judge their beauty on basis of someone’s height, colour, makeup, and many other factors related to body sizes. She made them realise that beauty pageants have been stereotyped by the society when they help women to speak up and empower them.
Shrinkhala mentioned that she has grown more confident, strong, self-determined and better at dealing with people. One of the things that former Miss Nepal believes is that social media is a great medium to connect with other people but it’s not complete real. She doesn’t want he title of Miss Nepal 2018 define her as she has bigger plans in her life. Shrinkhala sometime back, along with her team members conducted talks about handwashing, cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene which was helpful in spreading awareness amongst the people. Also, the blanket distribution helped provide warmth to hundreds of people during the bone-chilling cold weather.
Recently, Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh along with the director of Miss World Organization, Mrs. Julia Morley visited Nepal in order to support the Beauty with a Purpose projects of Miss World Nepal 2019 Anushka Shrestha and Miss Wold Nepal 2018 Shrinkhala Khatiwada.
She has maintained her individuality even after he reign and has not surrendered into the paths chosen by most of her predecessors. She made her own way and one can easily gather from her social media account that her days are still occupied with projects that are still affiliated to her Miss World mission, and other similar campaigns which stick to her commitments that she made before the pageant.
She is still working extremely hard despite the international pageant being over. And she does it with that big beautiful smile on her face. In her social media live sessions, she puts an effort to make it as interactive and therapeutic as possible with her followers talking about important issues. This is what makes Miss World Nepal 2018 Shrinkhala Khatiwada different from all the other representatives of Nepal.
