The organization of Miss World Netherlands hosted the coronation ceremony for Miss World Netherlands 2020/2021 on 1st July 2021, where Dilay Willemstein was crowned as the new queen. She will now represent the Netherlands in the upcoming edition of Miss World, scheduled for December in Puerto Rico. Dilay takes over the title from Miss World Netherlands 2019, Brenda Felicia Muste.
Dilay is 20-years-old and works as a professional model and dance teacher in Arnhem and Roosendaal. She finished her dance training at Utrecht's Creative College. She is looking forward to taking over as Miss World Netherlands 2020/2021 and beginning her preparations for the competition.
After the crowning, she took to her social media to share her sheer happiness and excitement as she wrote, "Wow, what a special night this was. Words cannot describe how I feel right now! I was crowned Miss World Netherlands 2020/21. I worked so hard for this and proved that if you give 100%, you can achieve anything you want. I can't wait to embark on this beautiful journey and share my story with others. Off to Puerto Rico. I want to thank everyone for the sweet messages and the support I've had. "

Dilay mentioned that as soon as she heard her name being called out as the winner, she didn’t realize that she had won. She was still full of adrenaline and full of nerves, but she was super happy and surprised. She thanked everyone who was there to support her and motivate her throughout her journey. Dilay explains the journey towards the crown as a fun learning experience. She mentions, "Due to this experience, I have got to know myself even better and I know where I stand from now on. I’m so proud of everyone and I can’t wait to shine on stage.”
The diva is strong, confident, beautiful, and focused on performing her best in the competition for which she has already started to prepare herself. She feels blessed to have a chance to represent her country at Miss World 2021 and mentioned that her parents are extremely proud of her. She encourages women across the world to find their purpose in life and work hard to make them come true because, "There is NO limit to what we, as women, can accomplish. Women are equal to men."
Dilay wants to spread awareness and break the taboos surrounding mental illness and will be using her platform to do the same. She started a campaign, ‘Mijn Naam Is’ because she believes that we live in a difficult time and people could use some support! She is using the platform to help people understand the impact of mental illness on one’s life by sharing the stories of real people and lending her support by giving them a space to share their stories.
Dilay is looking forward to starting her preparations for Miss World 2021 and doing her best to make the Netherlands proud.
