22 year old Pinoy beauty Catriona Gray started off her journey to the Miss World 2016 crown on 2nd October 2016, right after she was crowned Miss World Philippines 2016. Since then, the beauty queen has been a favourite for the title. Her beauty and grace was even compared to that of Miss World 2013 Megan Young and she was even predicted by many as the next Miss World.

But, the Miss World 2016 finale concluded with the crowning of the very gorgeous Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico as the winner, and shockingly Catriona Gray did not even make it to the Top 3 finalists. This came as a shock to many Filipinos (even non-Filipinos) who are questioning what exactly happened? Even after delivering two exceptionally outstanding Q&A rounds - in the Top 10 (with host Megan Young) and the Top 5 (with Jason Cook) – what happened during the judges’ deliberations?

We are not here to conclude or give our opinion on something, but we would like to bring forth the other side of the coin that was overshadowed with disappointment and heartbreak. During the final Q&A round of the Top 5 finalists, Catirona was asked by Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna "Which qualities do you think will take to wear my crown?" To which the beauty gave a thoughtful answer and said, “I think first of all, it takes bravery. To be a Miss World is to carry a burning torch. It is like action carried out by one to illuminate the lives of many. And I would dedicate my whole self, my love for the arts, and my voice to trying to uplift, empower, and educate people. And it would be my greatest honor and duty to hold this torch high enough so that all the world could feel and see its light.”

Catriona’s answer made it clear to everyone that she is there to win and that she deserved to win, but what went wrong. No one knows exactly, but fans expressed their disappointment via social media platforms, and this is what they have to say...
