06 Jan 2021 | Angelique Reyes

Miss World Philippines organization will host the finale of Miss World Philippines 2020 soon where the divas from all over the country will compete for the national title and the opportunity to represent the Philippines at Miss World 2020. The organization will also crown the representative of the Philippines to Miss Supranational from this year.

The organization also announced that the participation of the previous title holders will also be allowed if they are eligible (age) and not crowned Miss World Philippines prior to this edition. With a list of potential candidates being prepared for the crown, Rachel-Anne Valera has caught our attention for the title as she seems like an ideal contender for Miss World Philippines 2020 crown. Some pageant fanatics have speculated that she has been preparing herself for the competition.

Hailing from the city of Malaybalay, Rachel is 27-years-old and stands 170 cm tall and has completed her higher studies from Mountain View College, where she completed her Masters in English Language and Literature. She is not new to the beauty pageant world as she represented the Philippines at Miss Landscapes International 2019 where she was placed at the Top 12 at the end of the event finale.

Rachel is strong, confident, and determined woman who has performed exceptionally well at the competition and was applauded for the same. She is someone who believes that an individual needs to be fierce enough to face the world that is trying to intimidate you. She loves to travel and know about the culture and history of a particular place as she feels that knowing about the culture and the traditions, helps in understanding the people of the country better.

The diva is grateful for the opportunities in life that has helped her to develop and work on herself as a model and as a human. In one of her recent posts on social media, the diva mentioned about how far she has come in terms of self-love. She mentioned, “It took me some time to learn how to properly walk-in heels and wear makeup. It took me years to understand proper fashion and poses, colour coordination in garments, mix and matches of accessories, and the essence of spas. I was born and raise in a lifestyle not entirely fit to a making of a woman for pageants. I have breakouts, acne marks, oiliness, fine lines, birthmarks, moles, crooked teeth, messy hair and panuhot (because adulting is real! lol). my skin isn’t as “flawless” as what you see in my social media. My staple outfit has always been jeans, sneakers, and black shirts. I get stressed out, anxious and at most days, I just feel I’m not as good as the others. and I’m perfectly fine with that.”

Lastly, she quoted Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, “This is just a kind, little reminder to remember that what we see online is a ‘curated feed’, and that we shouldn’t compare that to our everyday reality.” The diva is a determined woman who also aspires to be a positive and impactful role model in the lives of people and if she decides to participate, she can use the platform to carry out her message.

With experience, determination, and love to be on-stage, Rachel can be a strong contender at the competition and could represent the Philippines at the international stage as well.
