The marvellous finale of Miss Portuguesa 2016 held on July 30’ 2016 concluded with the crowning of Cristiana Viana as the winner. Cristiana succeeds Miss World Portugal 2015 Rafaela Pardete, and will now represent Portugal at the Miss World 2016 pageant.

18 years old Cristiana defeated 14 other finalists to win the coveted title of Miss World Portugal 2016. Cristiana is originally from Medes and resides in Valbom, Gondomar. "This victory is the realization of a dream. I am still very excited and I have no words to describe everything I feel,” were Cristiana’s first words after she earned the right to be called Portugal at the Miss World 2016 pageant.

At the same pageant, Ana Bomfim was adjudged the first runner-up while Carina Caldeira was titled second runner-up.
Portugal hasn’t had the best of luck at the Miss World beauty pageant. Melanie Vicente was the last Portuguese woman to place at Miss World pageant. Melanie made it to the Top 30 at Miss World 2012. The highest placement of Portugal at Miss World was in the year 1971 when Ana Paula de Almeida was titled second runner-up.
