As she bids farewell to her country to travel all the way to China for Miss World 2018, Thulisa reveals one of the costumes she would be wearing in the coveted competition and the relevance it holds in her culture and traditions.

The 26-year-old Thulisa Keyi hails from Mdantsane outside East London in the Eastern Cape and was crowned the official representative of South Africa on 28th May 2018. As she bid farewell yesterday, Thulisa revealed how the journey was not easy but taught her so much about herself and her ability to make do with what she has and her resilient spirit. She is proud of the woman she has grown to be and pretty confident.

Looking effortlessly beautiful, Thulisa took to her social media to describe one of her costumes in a post, “With the dress, we wanted something that is elegant and proudly South African yet appeals to a global audience. This dress reminds me of myself, simple yet strikingly bold and beautiful. The design of the dress is simple but a lot of work went into ensuring that it fits impeccably. The use of velvet which absorbs the colour deeply is what makes this dress strikingly bold and visually appealing. The pattern of the beaded sleeve is inspired by the Xhosa culture, my culture.”

Tulisa's plan for Miss World is to represent her country as authentically as possible. Having witnessed first-hand during the Mandela centenary celebrations how powerful the Miss World platform is in making a difference in the lives of many all around the world, she vows to do her absolute best at Miss World 2018. As she concludes in her post, “Crown or no crown, I will continue the legacy in the way that I conduct myself, my work and how I impact the lives of those around me. South Africans, thank you for all your support??. Please continue to follow my journey in Sanya, China.”

We wish her all the best for her upcoming competition.
