In 2014, speculations were rife over when and where the Miss Universe 2014 will be held, before finally it was announced that the same will be held in Doral, Miami. Now, for the Miss Universe 2015 edition it seems that the Miss Universe organization has offered Myanmar to host the 64th edition of Miss Universe beauty pageant, according to the Miss Universe Myanmar organization.
Soe Yu Wai, the national director of Miss Universe Myanmar organization, received the offer from Miss Universe Organisation’s chairman Paula M. Shugart and Vice President of Finance/CFO Larry Parra while she accompanied Myanmar delegate Sharr Htut Eaindra during the Miss Universe pageant held in Doral on January 25.
"When we went to compete in the 63rd edition of the Miss Universe beauty pageant in the United States, we received the offer. The main reason is because we have successfully hold Miss Universe Myanmar beauty pageants for two consecutive years since 2013," said Soe Yu Wai.
She added, "We are very proud as this is a much-sought opportunity wanted by every country. It would be impossible to host it without only the forces of me and my organization. But, we will try our utmost to use this opportunity to bring benefits to our country," she added. (Source: Nation Multimedia, Myanmar)
If Myanmar manages to arrange funds and sponsors for the event and eventually decides to accepts the offer, it would be hosting the prestigious beauty pageant in Myanmar for the first time, and Myanmar will be able to showcase its natural beauties to the world. The event, if hosted by Myanmar, will provide impetus to foreign investment in the country and its tourism industry.
Miss Universe Myanmar pageant commenced in the year 2013, and so far two editions of the pageant have been held. Moe Set Wine was crowned Miss Universe Myanmar 2013 at the inaugural edition of the national pageant and went on to compete at Miss Universe 2013, though remaining unplaced. Sharr Htut Eaindra was crowned Miss Universe Myanmar 2014 at the second edition of the pageant, and like her predecessor, she also remained unplaced at the recently concluded Miss Universe 2014 pageant.
