Laura Elena Zuniga Huizar, Nuestra Belleza Sinaloa 2008 and International Reina Hispanoamericana 2008, issued a statement saying she was tired and saddened by the misuse of her image before the international press.

For years, she has been mistakenly used by the global press, demonstrating that the former beauty queen is the companion of Mexican drug lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. Laura also said that this stigma has prohibited her from advancing her professional development as a model.

Laura expressed her disappointment in her facebook handle by stating:

“Friends, family and people who know me, you know how hard it was for me to get ahead, it’s been many years and and tried to reconstruct my life, unfortunately today my physical and psychological stability isn’t feeling well, since during Several years and been a victim of a series of publications which has hurt me and to the of each and every one of those who know me, the news where are doing wrong use of my image, which hurts my career and my life In All aspects; I’m at a point where I can’t do much since I don’t have the means or the resources, nor the desire to enter into legal procedures and be calling and asking them to withdraw the wrong image q used in his notes, I He has really exhausted and that’s why I want to ask for your help. Previously, Laura Zuniga was drawn into trouble with the Sinaloa authorities, since her former boyfriend was wedged up with prearranged crime. Regrettably, at the time of the arrest of her partner, Laura was with him. However, later the allegations were elucidated, and the court declared Laura free and blameless of any links to drug trafficking.
