For all the pageant fanatics, this is going to be exciting news. Philippines might host the Miss Universe 2017 beauty pageant. The secretary of Department of Tourism (DOT), Wanda Teo said that the Miss Universe organization presented Philippines the hosting rights for the next installment of the Miss Universe pageant happening in November. But no official validation has been released over the matter yet.

“We’re still studying it but that’s true, they are asking us to host it again this year,” Teo stated in a report. Teo further added that the Miss Universe organization was delighted with how the country handled and took the responsibility of the 65th Miss Universe pageant, which was apparently more prevalent than the pre-events of the current Super Bowl.

“Our islands, food, and the biggest smiles of our people are all over the news and social media these past few weeks,”Teo said.

She said that the event aids in enhancing tourism in the country. This was actually the third time the country hosted the prestigious Miss Universe pageant. Those 3 glorious times were- in 1974, 1994, and in January 2017. The organizers were glad when the pageant took place in January and Pia Wurtzbach crowned her successor Iris Mittenaere (Miss France).The coronation night was held at the Mall of Asia Arena, but there were pre-pageant activities held in numerous locations across the country, such as Vigan, Baguio, Cebu, and Davao, among others.

All eyes will now be on the confirmation from their side on hosting the pageant. Rachel Peters will represent the Philippines in the next Miss Universe pageant.
