It was the very first time when Pia Wurtzbach had posted a lengthy message of gratitude to those who comprised her support system. Among the mentioned are God, her trainer Aces & Queens, her family (who she named as Mama, Papa, Sarah, Charlie, and Lara), a special person who she only addressed as “YOU”, those who voted for her, and her kababayans. Wurtzbach also added that she hopes that she has been a motivation to everyone. Pia expressed: “Keep your faith, fight for what you believe in, and hold on to your dreams! They do come true! I know I still have much to learn and a huge responsibility ahead of me. So thank you 2015 and bring it on, 2016!”

Previously on the same day, Wurtzbach posted a photo of her in London. She captioned it with a commentary on how she decided to join Binibining Pilipinas 2015. According to Pia Wurtzbach, what really pushed her to join for the third time was her sister who told her: “Okay, we’ve had enough. You’ve been talking about this pageant nonstop and it’s all we’ve been hearing this whole time. You obviously want it bad. Do it. Stop thinking about what other people think. Do it for yourself.”
Pia Alonzo-Wurtzbach greeted the New Year with a message of gratitude for her family who persuaded her on going after her dream to become the reigning 2015 Miss Universe. Wurtzbach said she contemplated joining the “Binibining Pilipinas” (Miss Philippines) pageant again, after losing it out in the 2014 pageant when she was made to answer the beauty pageant question by Senator Sonny Angara in Filipino although the panel members were English-speaking.
Talking about her journey, Pia revealed: “There’s a lot of sacrifices to be made. I had to dedicate yet another year of being away from my family, limiting my work and spending my time on training and preparations instead. I was sure that I was ready to win but I wasn’t sure if I was ready to lose. So I did it all again, and the rest is history. Thank you, family.”

While Pia Wurtzbach has welcomed 2016 with all glory, esteem and determination, we believe she has a long way to go and prove herself to be one of the most loved Miss Universe ever.
