Over the weekend, a Colombian named, Noider Almanza Barraza was condemned online after posting a video of effigies dressed as Pia Wurtzbach and Miss Universe host Steve Harvey being burned. Many Filipino netizens expressed their anger, saying the Colombians were still sour about not winning the Miss Universe crown. There had been no statements from Pia’s part till date, but in an interview aired on ABS-CBN's today morning, the reigning Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach revealed that she heard the news about the effigy and confessed of being shocked about it. But before reacting to the occurrence, she chose to do her research.

The elegant beauty queen, expressed: “I heard about it and when I did my research, I found out it was part of their tradition that every New Year, they burn bad memories so these won't happen again. So if I'm not used to it, it's definitely new for me... that's what's good about Miss Universe, you learn the different customs of other countries. There are others that are very surprising, but that's how it is.”
Noider later made an apology and took down the video and photos which he had posted on his social media account earlier. The newly crowned Miss Universe was quite calm and dealt with this matter very gracefully, as she pondered over the Colombian culture of burning away negative vibes. Brushing aside the matter, Pia Wurtbach also expressed her thoughts over her homecoming.
Pia said that she's looking forward to her homecoming in the Philippines very soon. Nonetheless, she is not yet certain when she will be back due to her frenzied schedule as the new title holder. The queen of Universe, added with a smile: "But once I find out, I will let everybody know for sure. I'm very excited and I think I'll cry when I go home, because I really miss the Philippines. I haven't been home in a long time. That's what I feel... but I'm very excited. I don't know what to expect, but I hope I can go home soon.”
With her every elegant gesture and graceful reactions over boiling matters, Pia asserts why she deserved to be summoned as the Miss Universe.
