22 years old, Roshanara Ebrahim from Nairobi County was adjudged as Miss World Kenya 2016 in Pata Beach Club in Malindi, Kilifi County. Kiambu’s Everlyne Thungu was titled as first runner up and Everlyne Adongo was declared as second runner up. Roshanara will now represent Kenya at Miss World 2016 where she hopes to succeed Mieria Lalaguna Royo from Spain. At the same event, Kevin Owiti from Siaya County was titled as Mister World Kenya 2016.

Roshanara is a fourth-year law student at the University of Nairobi. She battled out 47 other strong crown contenders to claim the title. The beauty queens showcased their best of facets in different categories and designs like African attire, evening gowns and official wear.

After winning the crown, Roshanara could not suppress her ecstasy as she added that the victory was a pleasant surprise. She attributed her success to determination, discipline and support from her ardent fan-following. Talking to paparazzi the newly crowned beauty queen expressed: “I will use the position to raise the profile of my county in various spheres. I am happy the judges saw potential in me and I am going to reciprocate by improving the economy of our country.”

Lately, Kenya’s highest placement at Miss World was in 2014 wherein Idah Nguma not only won the most integral fastrack segment of the competition, Beauty with a Purpose and stood as a Top 5 finalist at Miss World Beach Beauty, but also entered into luminous Top 11 finalist spot.
Kenya returned to Miss World in 2005 and in the span of ten years, have entered into semi-finals and quarter finals for about three times, garnering placements in 2010, 2012 and 2014 as Top 25, Top 15 and Top 11 finalists respectively.
