The reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach has already crossed half of her journey as Miss Universe, and the Pinoy beauty is enjoying every moment of it. As you all are aware how the rumours of Philippines hosting the Miss Universe 2016 pageant are doing rounds on social media these days, here is some interesting scoop to the tale.
If sources are to be believed, reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte are set to meet on July 18 to discuss about the staging of the Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines in January 2017. The information was revealed by the Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon Tulfo Teo during her interview with leading media channel.
Teo also mentioned that the only problem would be the date set by the Miss Universe Organisation for the grand coronation night – January 29’ 2017. The new tourism chief also said that she plans a provincial tour for the pageant which she believes will help marginalized workers nationwide.
The last time Philippines hosted the Miss Universe pageant was in the year 1974. Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran from Philippines passed on the crown to Amparo Muñoz from Spain. After Moran, Pia brought an end to the 42 years drought of the country by winning the Miss Universe 2015 title.
“I am actively campaigning and we all want the pageant to happen here. We want to happen. It hasn’t been confirmed yet,” Wurtzbach admitted.
Meanwhile, Pia Wurtzbach recently went on a Carribean holiday and visited the Grand Cayman, capital George Town, Stingray City, Camana Bay and the Eastern Districts.
