The country has recently witnessed a stupendous victory this year at Miss Earth 2019 when Nellys Pimentel represented the nation and successfully won the coveted title. This is first time the country has won the Miss Earth crown.
Puerto Rico marked its dominance in the Miss Universe beauty pageant with its stellar performances and unbeatable victories as the country won the Miss Universe crown five times since the inception of the pageant in 1952. The first time the country won the crown was in the year 1970 when Marisol Malaret participated in the pageant and caught extreme love and blessings at the conclusion. The second time the country won the crown was in the year 1985 under the delegation of Deborah Carthy-Deu. The Puerto Rican Actress, Singer and writer, Dayanara Torres competed in Miss Universe 1993 and won the coveted crown proudly at the conclusion.
Denise Quiñones who has now become the National Director of Miss Universe Puerto Rico Organization was the fourth Puerto Rican beauty to have won the Universe crown in the year 2001. The country marked its excellence in the year 2006 when the gorgeous Zuleyka Rivera who is an actress, TV Host and a dancer, won the Miss Universe crown and found a place in everyone's heart with her amazing performance at the pageant.
The country participated for the first time in Miss World beauty pageant in 1959 under the delegation of Lilie Diaz but after that, the country did not compete in the pageant for over a decade. Then again in 1970, the country commenced participating and won the first-ever Miss World crown in 1975 under the delegation of Wilnelia Merced. Apart from this, 2016 was a special year for the country as it won the second Miss World crown under the delegation of the stunning Stephanie Del Valle.
The first-ever Miss International crown won by the country since the year of its establishment, was in 1987 under the delegation of the beautiful blonde, blue-eyed Laurie Simpson. After this, Valerie Hernandez brought home the second Miss International crown in the year 2014.
With all these astonishing performances and victories, the country has showcased its worth in the pageantry and has become the country to finally have won all the Big Four grand slam international beauty pageants. Moreover, the country has set a perfect benchmark for other countries to reach up to this level of success.
