Puteri Indonesia 2022, the 25th edition of the national pageant, is all set to be held in March 2022 as the winner will represent Indonesia at Miss Universe 2022. The pageant will also crown the representatives to the upcoming editions of Miss Supranational and Miss International. This year, the pageant has shortlisted 45 contestants who are competing for the national title representing regional groups; Sumatra, Jawa, Lesser Sunda Islands, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Eastern Indonesia.

While all the delegates moving ahead are emerging as strong contenders for the title, the competition might also witness a potential back to back win for the coveted crown as Jawa Timur’s Adinda Cresheilla is coming up as a front runner to succeed Puteri Indonesia 2020 Ayu Maulida of Jawa Timur.

Ayu Maulida won the national title and represented Indonesia at the Miss Universe 2020, where the competitive Muslim woman went onto to secure a spot in the Top 21 with a stellar performance throughout the competition.

This year, stepping into Ayu’s footsteps as the regional representative, Adinda has showcased immense potential to succeed her for the national representation as well. Adinda Cresheilla is 24 years of age and is a graduate of the Bachelor of Social Sciences and Bachelor of Communication Studies.

She believes that urgency of gender equality needs to be echoed and is determined to carry out the gender equality program through the 'Better Equal' digital platform. Through her advocacy, Adinda wants to invite the community, especially women, to be aware of these problems.

For this year’s edition, Puteri Indonesia 2020 Raden Roro Ayu Maulida Putri of East Java, Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan 2020 Putu Ayu Saraswati of Bali and Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2020 Jihane Almira Chedid of Central Java, will crown their successors at the end of the event. Indonesia withdrew its participation from Miss Universe 2021. Thus, the country will participate at Miss Universe 2022 after a gap of one year.
