The coronation night of Reina Mundial del Banano 2022 (World Banana Queen) was held on Saturday, 24th September 2022 in Machala, El Oro Province where Paola Vergara Farez of Ecuador was crowned the new queen.  

Paola Vergara Farez is 23 years of age and a social communication graduate. She bested 13 other contestants to win the international crown. She also bagged the Miss Photogenic award at the finale night.

On winning the Reina Mundial del Banano 2022 crown, Paola took to her official social media as she wrote, “This achievement is very important in my life, reaching the top of my dreams in beauty pageants fills me with happiness and pride. This achievement is possible Thanks to the mayor of my City Machala. Thanks for your support and making my participation possible @lillyloayza, to my 3 families whom I love so much Farez, Vergara and Loayza.”

Reina Mundial del Banano 2022 was the 57th edition of the international pageant for banana producing countries. Paola succeeded Ellen Pimienta Glen for the title.

Also at the end of the event finale, Alemanya of Germany, an 18-year-old student Taya Wolf, was adjudged Virreina Mundial del Banano (first runner-up). Geraldine Quiroz Bermudes from Colombia was adjudged as the second runner-up, while Ana Grisell Romero Najera from Honduras and Maria Rita Dos Santos from Brazil were adjudged as the third and fourth runners-up respectively.
