Sugheidy Willie from Mexico has been crowned as Reinado Internacional del Tropico 2016 at the finals held on 13’ February 2016 in San Pedro Sula, Cortes, Honduras. Sugheidy succeeds Beverly Rodriguez from Puerto Rico. At the same event, Monica Zamora from Costa Rica was adjudged as first runner up.

Reinado Internacional del Tropico 2016 was the 9th edition of the pageant, wherein 19 countries competed for the coveted crown, amongst whom were Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Managua, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nicaragua USA Latina, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, USA and Venezuela.

Sugheidy Willie is not new to the world of beauty pageants, and was formerly the third runner-up to Nuestra Belleza Nueve Leon 2013 and Miss Earth Nuevo Leon 2014. The Reinado Internacional del Tropico 2016 pageant also had an online voting system for the Miss Internet which was won by Miss Guatemala, Ingrid Analí Calderon Galindo. She won a total of 1005 votes and got the title with a majority of votes.

The finale was broadcast live on TeleProgreso channel and the pageant lasted for about two hours. Cinthia Nunez Dominican Miss World graced the finale as the guest of honour for the coronation night. In addition to announcing the winner, a list of Special Awards were also awarded to the contestants -
