Rizzini Alexis Gomez Miss International Tourism 2012 dies after a long battle with Lung Cancer. She was 25 years old. Rizzini’s father, the former PBA star, confirmed the news to ABS-CBN. She died in the morning of Tuesday, October 13, at Cebu Doctors' University Hospital in Cebu City.

25 years old Gomez was a registered nurse and was the second of three Filipinas to win the Miss Tourism International pageant. Friends and fans of Rizzini sent condolence messages to her family through social media and pageant websites.

“May her soul rest in peace. And thank you for the honor you’ve brought to the country,” a fan posted.

"She captured our hearts when she won the title Mutya ng Pilipinas - Tourism 2012. She made the whole country proud when she won the international crown of Miss Tourism International 2012 in Malaysia. A 25-year-old Cebuana who ruled the global pageantry scene. A great loss... Our deepest sympathy and prayers. Filipinos will always be proud of you. Rizzini Alexis Gomez (Birthdate: August 29, 1990)," posted the Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant on Facebook.

When reports of Rizzini being diagnosed with the illness started surfacing everywhere in 2014, fans, friends and her family were shocked to find out that she had lung cancer because she never smoked. That same year in December, the Cebuana beauty flew to Malaysia to crown her successor. Rizzini attended the finals, but couldn’t crown her successor as she had to be rushed to the hospital for not feeling well.

Loss of a beauty queen, that too at such a young age, will leave a hole in the hearts of all her fans and followers. And we at Angelopedia wish that her soul may rest in peace..!!!
