With the 2016 edition being held in the “Pageant Loving” nation of Philippines, the excitement and popularity level has definitely gone up. The last time Philippines hosted the pageant was in 1994, when India’s Sushmita Sen was crowned as the winner, which has drawn various pageant fanatics to believe that history might just repeat itself in the 2016 edition. Roshmitha Harimurthy is India’s bet for the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, and fans are positive about Roshmitha’s chances at the pageant.

On the other hand, Filipino fans are affirmative on making a back to back victory at the Miss Universe this year with Maxine Medina. If we look at both the contenders, it’s hard to pick just one. Both are extremely talented, and both are working hard to overcome their flaws and put their best foot forward as they enter the contest. While on one hand, 22-year-old Roshmitha has been occupied with wardrobe fittings, pilates, diction classes and grooming sessions to walk on her stage presence; 26 years old Maxine Medina’s transformation, from the time she was crowned Binibining Pilipinas 2016 till today, is noticeably evident.

Talking about Roshmitha, the Indian beauty has that tropical charm to her beauty that is very Indian. She is a natural beauty and that gives Roshmitha an edge at the pageant this year. Pursuing her Masters in international business, the beauty queen is ambitious and can be termed as “Beauty with Brain”. She is blessed with a perfectly toned body and also stands tall at an astounding height. There is no second thought on her confidence level and the diva has also improved her communication skills. The only point that comes across as a drawback is the fact that her social media presence is not that strong because of which none of her activities and grooming updates is available for fans. For a beauty queen, it is very important to stay closely connected to her fans and followers for the much needed popularity.

On the other hand, Maxine has a really strong social media presence. All her grooming sessions and training settings are updated on her social media, and you can actually see that the beauty has transformed from the “learning phase” to the “know it all” stage. All the criticism that Maxine had to face during the beginning of her reign only made her strong and more determined to work towards her goal of becoming the next Miss Universe. On top of her regular workshops and training sessions, she has been reading at least three articles a day – and even watching Ted Talks in between – to brush up on current issues.

One has big shoes to fill; the other is carrying the hope of re-creating the history. Both have their strengths and both have their weaknesses. But one thing that brings the two gorgeous divas together is the determination to bring home the crown. Also, one thing that is good about the two beauties is that instead of feeling the pressure, the two are actually enjoying the moment and awaiting the journey to the crown.
