Miss Hull Saffron Hart talks about Zara Holland’s dethronement

After Zara Holland’s much talked about dethronement from the Miss Great Britain 2015 title, a Hull beauty queen says she is determined to bring the Miss Great Britain crown. Miss Hull Saffron Hart says she is very particular about drawing the line after what happened with former Miss GB Zara, as she prepares to compete for the Miss GB title in the final on September 23.

Holland was stripped of her crown after her controversial physical proximity with a co-contestant on hit TV reality show Love Island in June. Saffron said: "Zara was a good friend of mine, I would still class her as a good friend, so I don't want to call her but there were rules in place. I think if you think of Miss Great Britain as a business, there are rules and they have got to be adhered to. If you let one thing go then what do you do next time if that happens?"

"With everything that has gone on, it is a really good chance for us to bring a positive thing back to the city and to show that is not what we are about. It was a mistake, it needs to be forgotten about now and let's do something amazing for the City of Culture and really show that this is a place people should want to live," added Saffron.

Saffron says that she sympathises with Zara for what happened but also claimed that she will never follow her footsteps into reality TV if she wins the crown.

"You have got to remembers she was a 20-year-old girl at the end of the day," she said. "It was her first time away from home. I am not going to make excuses for what she did, she made her own decision that is what she chose to do. Unfortunately it was just a little bit more public than maybe how other people tend to do it and that was where it was maybe just a little bit wrong... “I definitely don't want to be famous, so reality TV for me is not a big thing. I think if anything I would just like to have another year of what I have been doing but on a grander scale.”

26 years old Saffron has managed to raise about £2,000 in her time as Miss Hull. She is now urging the city to vote for her and help her win the title. Saffron clarified that she is not the reality show kind of person. "You won't see me on Love Island or anything like that. Unfortunately, it is just not for me. I have got a boyfriend and I'm really happy and I love being in the salon, so, for me, that is not my main concern for doing this at all."
