Miss Universe 2016 is the next big thing in line for pageant fans. The gala finale of the pageant is slated to be held on 30th January 2017 in Philippines. Though there is still a month left for the finale, the pageant enthusiasts are already excited for the night. To ignite the excitement, the Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo on Monday announced the schedule of events for the Miss Universe 2016.

Teo said that the contestants will mark their arrival on January 12th 2016, and the official pre-pageant activities will kick start from January 15th. Teo mentioned that the first preliminary event will be a photo shoot which will be held in capital of Ilocos Sur. The next day will be a Governors’ Ball at SMX which will be attended by all the contestants.
The most awaited swimsuit competition will be held on 17th January 2016 at Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark in Cebu. It will be really exciting to see girls flaunt their toned body to get the best shot. After the swimsuit competition, the touring and travelling for the contestants will begin. The contestants will be divided into groups and will then begin their touring session. “Some will be going to Baguio, some will be going to Albay, so medyo hati-hati na ‘yan,” Teo said. Other locations included in the list are Batangas and Iloilo.
After finishing up with the tour, on 21st January the contestants will gather in Manila for a fashion show which will be held at the SMX Convention Center. Teo further updated that a “women empowerment night” will be held in the same venue on the next day. The contestants will also pay a courtesy call on President Rodrigue Duterte in Malacañang on January 23, followed by another event at Conrad Hotel.

The most popular National Costume competition will be held on 24th January 2017 at the World Trade Center. The Evening Gown contest will be held in Manila but the date and venue isn’t finalised yet. The pageant will come to a conclusion at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on January 30, starting at 8 a.m, wherein Pia Wurtzbach will crown her successor.
