The organization of Senorita Panama is all set to host the coronation for Senorita Panama 2021 where delegates from all over the country will compete for the national crown and the chance to represent Panama at Miss Universe 2021. The winner will succeed Miss Universe Panama 2020, Carmen Jaramillo, for the title.

Among the many names emerging as potential representatives for Panama, Brenda Smith Lezema has popped out as one of the most acclaimed divas by the Panamanian fans for the title of Senorita Panama 2021. Hailing from Ciudad de México, 26 years-old Brenda stands 171 cm tall and has a degree in Journalism and Cultural Studies and is an activist and a lecturer.

This American-born Mexican-Panamanian beauty has as diverse of a career as she does an identity, and both are equally in the spotlight. As a first generation American who has always identified as a proud Black and Latina woman, Brenda’s mix of identities was often met with, “you are not enough.” Not Latina enough, not Black enough, not American enough.

Brenda is a highly appreciated name in the pageant industry, having won some of the most acclaimed titles being a proud Latina. She was crowned Mexicana Universal Ciudad de México 2019 and represented Ciudad de México at the Mexicana Universal 2020 where she was adjudged as the second runner-up. Apart from this, she has previously participated and was crowned Miss Missouri Teen USA 2013 and represented Missouri at Miss Teen USA 2013 where she was placed at Top 15 and as the first runner-up at Miss Georgia USA 2017. She has also participated in Our Latin Beauty 2018.

She is a professional speaker who reflects on stepping up, speaking out and the power of using a young voice to make a difference.  She shares lessons learned from student-led protests ignited by systemic racism that captured national headlines. Brenda is a proud advocate and presenter of Afro-Latin culture and has dedicated herself to fight and raise awareness about the recognition, justice, and development of the people of African descent around the world.

She is a spokesperson in the high fields of human rights and has tried to find a place to represent her state in the USA and in Mexico and it will be interesting to look out for that now in Panama. She wants to use the platforms to raise the awareness and reach out to more people regarding the same.

If she decides to participate, she is already emerging as a favourite being well-spoken, having a multi-cultural background, having a strong voice and opinions, a catwalk worth millions, and mesmerizing looks. With so much positivity and confidence, Brenda Smith Lezema can surly be one of the strongest contenders for the title of Senorita Panama 2021.
