Shirin Akter Shela crowned first ever Miss Universe Bangladesh

The inaugural edition of Miss Universe Bangladesh held tonight in Dhaka concluded with the crowning of Shirin Akter Shela as Miss Universe Bangladesh 2019, and she will now become the first ever representative from Bangladesh in Miss Universe beauty pageant. Shirin was crowned by Miss Universe 1994 and famous Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen of India, who was the special guest at the event and was also part of the jury. Shirin will now travel to USA to compete in Miss Universe 2019, finale whereof is scheduled to be held on 8th December 2019. Shirin was part of our top three favourites to win the title.

Her court at the finale comprised of Alisha Islam (first runner up) and Jessia Islam (second runner-up). Two years ago, Jessia Islam also won the title of Miss World Bangladesh 2017 and represented Bangladesh in Miss World 2017, where she secured Top 40 placement.

Other candidates who competed for the title were Afla Amran, Umme Ishrat Jahan, Maria Chowdhury Mumu, Sohani Israt, Sriti Akter, Sanobar Taifa and Toshiba Anita Islam.

The jury for the night also included famous singer Tahsan Rahman Khan, Tootli Rahman (President of Bangladesh Heritage Craft), former cricketer Athar Ali Khan, Rafiul Islam, Managing Director of Flora Bank, actor turned politician Akbar Hossain Pathan and several other renowned personalities from Bangladesh. Amishee, a brand that represents the individualism, power, strength and charisma of women, designed the crown for the coronation night.

Shirin surely is a gorgeous beauty and coupled with her modelling experience, we do think she will surely make a mark at Miss Universe 2019. What do you think?
