Miss Universe Philippines 2022, the 3rd edition of the Miss Universe Philippines, will be held on 30th April 2022 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Bay City, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. Beatrice Luigi Gomez of Cebu City will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

Sophia Veronica Torres has made it to Top 50 at the national competition representing Rizal. Torres is the youngest candidate in this year’s batch of Miss Universe Philippines pageant; she is 18 years of age. She is currently a student of Ateneo de Manila Senior High School.

Sophia is the CEO and founder of Patata, a food and beverage company based in Pasig City. Talking about her journey as a delegate of one of the most prestigious beauty titles, Torres shares,” My everyday journey as a delegate of MUPH2022 taught me to believe in myself. Believe that life has opportunities and that I am in the right place in the right moment where I need to be.”

Torres is a keen dancer and is a strong advocate of education and self-acceptance. On the occasion of women’s day, she left a message for all the ladies around the world on her social media. She stated,” A woman is uniquely beautiful when she is confident and has the ability to embrace all her features without putting pressure on herself to confirm to society’s beauty standards.”

“She breaks the bias of what is typically seen as beautiful and lets her inner beauty shine through. She gives back to her community and gets herself involved in building a better society for the next generation. Her kindness and youth shine through to the people around her. She dances her heart out and expresses herself with music. She is full of dreams and aspirations. The sky is her limit,” she continued.

Though young and inexperienced, Torres has what it takes to pave her way in the competition, i.e., determination and sheer will. The voting for the next round has begun and will be open till 16th March 2022. Don’t forget to vote for your favourite candidate!
