Suluga Taliau, hailing from the villages of Nuuuli, Aoloau, and Faleasao, has been crowned as the Miss American Samoa 2015. Suluga will now represent American Samoa at the Miss Pacific Islands 2015 pageant to be held on December 12’ 2015 in the Cook Islands.
The 19 year old beauty queen is a student at ASCC, studying Pre-Law & Liberal Arts. According to the spectators and pageant judges, the contest was a tough event. It was difficult for the judges to come out with one clear winner, as all the delegates were equally remarkable. The contestants included Suluga, Ruth Titiula Tagaloa Fa'atiga, Gyepawwa So'oali'ioaiga Seiuli-Pan, Salumalo Paleso'o Savusa and Salevu Lole.

In addition to winning the crown, Suluga won the Special Award of Miss Congeniality, and also won the awards in the categories of Sarong, Interview and the Siva Samoa. At the same event, Ruth was titled Miss Talent and Miss Bluesky, and was also adjudged as the first runner up. Salumalo was adjudged as the third runner-up, who also won the Traditional Wear Round, and the fourth runner up was Salevu. Gyepawwa won the Best Float category.
Suluga, who was surprisingly shocked to hear her name to be announced as the winner, said, “It’s something that I really did not expect and I was shocked at the same time I was very overwhelmed with joy.” She continued, "I am ready to take on the responsibilities that come with the Miss American Samoa title and also what M.A.S.I (Miss American Samoa Inc) has in store for me, especially the upcoming Miss South Pacific pageant.”
