On 7th March 2017, the Miss World Malaysia Organisation made the announcement about dethroning Tatiana Kumar from the title, claiming “offensive” comments from Tatiana’s end. The post was made on the official instagram account of Miss World Malaysia and was signed by National Director & Licensee for Miss Malaysia World 2016, Dato’ Anna Lin.

Anna Lin revealed that Tatiana and her family made several offensive comments against the organisation online. “There are certain formalities, and she has also breached one involving an important sponsor. This has led to the contract being terminated,” said Lin. However, this decision of the Organisation didn’t go well with the fans and this has led to a flurry of comments to be left on the account with many of the responses expressing their disapproval on this abrupt decision.

Finally, the one who is at the receiving end of all this controversy, Tatiana Kumar, spoke up. Tatiana clarified that she had received a letter from Dato Anna Lin’s company that stated that there was a breach on the agreement formed between her and the company.  “The termination of the Agreement and the removal of my title are wrongful and wholly unjustified, as I have certainly not breached the Agreement or any so-called Code of Conduct. More importantly, the allegations made against me are wholly false and unacceptable. I am very upset and disappointed with these allegations as I have conducted myself with utmost professionalism as Miss Malaysia World 2016 to-date,” said Tatiana in her official statement.

She further added, “In this regard, I am currently seeking legal advice and will be seeking legal redress. Pending such legal advice, I have been advised not to make any further public statements for the time being.”

Tatiana Nandha Kumar is an 18 year old girl with French and Malaysian heritage. During the Miss World 2016 pageant, Tatiana had claimed on a Facebook post that she has yet to receive permission to post statuses and updates on the official Miss World Malaysia page.
