The reigning Miss South Tulsa USA, Taylor Gorton was crowned as Miss Oklahoma USA 2016 by the outgoing titleholder Alexandra Miller at the end of the pageant, held on December 20, 2015 at the Riverwind Showplace Theater in Norman. She will now represent her state at Miss USA 2016. Miss Warr Acres, Albreuna Gonzaque was titled as 1st runner-up, Miss Greater Edmond, Catelin Morris was announced as 2nd runner-up, Miss Sooner State, Madeline Cole was adjudged as 3rd runner-up and Miss Northwest Oklahoma, Alex Smith was declared as 4th runner-up. At the same event, Hellen Smith, the reigning Miss Oklahoma City Teen USA, was crowned Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2016 by the outgoing queen, Cherokee Dawn. Hellen Smith finished as 1st runner-up to Cherokee Dawn last year. She will represent her state at Miss Teen USA 2016.
Taylor Gorton has a pattern of accomplishment in pageants. She was crowned Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2008. She finished in the top 15 at the Miss Teen USA Pageant. Gorton’s experience in pageantry also includes a one-year reign as National American Miss Jr. Teen 2006.
She was student in Broadcast Journalism specially Sports Broadcasting. Since her move to St. Louis, she became a member of the St. Louis Rams Cheerleading squad.
Oklahoma had never won the Miss USA title until 2015 after Olivia Jordan won the first crown for her state. Olivia finished as Second Runner Up at Miss Universe 2015 pageant held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The state however came close to Miss USA crown in 1989 and 2010, when Jill Renee Scheffert and Morgan Woolard placed first runner-up to Gretchen Polhemus and Rima Fakih, respectively. Oklahoma is in the top 20 states in terms of number of semi-finalists. Olivia Jordan was crowned Miss USA 2015 on July 12, 2015 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, becoming the first contestant from Oklahoma to win the national title and after her win at Miss USA, Alexandra Miller her runner up took the title of Miss Oklahoma USA 2015.
