Thilini Crowned Miss World Sri Lanka 2015


Thilini Amarasuriya, who aged 20, was crowned Miss World Sri Lanka 2015 with Ayesha Fernando as second runner-up and Jayathi De Silva as first runner-up, in an elegant ceremony held last evening at the Hilton, Colombo. She will now represent Sri Lanka in the sixty-fifth edition of the Miss World pageant to be held on 19 December 2015 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China.

Thilini Amarasuriya battled out 12 other contestants to bag the crown of Siyatha Facia Miss World Sri Lanka 2015. The grand coronation of Siyatha Facia Miss World Sri Lanka 2015 took place on 5 October 2015 at the Ballroom of Hilton Colombo. The ceremony was graced by President Maithripala Sirisena.

The grand show began with a tremendous performance by the finalists on the theme ‘Queen of Lanka’, backed by the dancers of the Channa Upuli Dancing Academy, with attire from Fabric Gallery and jewelry from Stone and String. Each contestant, adorning oriental costumes, presented themselves and greeted the viewers.  

Next, the contestants then exhibited their talent in the Catwalk segment, titled ‘Glamour from the Wilderness’, with clothing by Eric Suriyasena and live music by Naadro.

Finally, decked-up in stunning evening wear by Dhananjaya Bandara, the 13 contestants took to the stage to find out the winners of the Siyatha Facia Miss World Sri Lanka 2015 pageant. It was a long and tedious competition of three weeks.

After winning the crown, Miss World Sri Lanka 2015, Thilini, shares – “ I’m so speechless right now. I can’t even think of anything to say! I’m so speechless!
