Monika Radulovic Miss Universe Australia 2015 to don Dame Edna Inspired National Costume

A 'Dame Edna' inspired ensemble has won the Miss Universe Australia’s ‘Elucent Skincare National Costume Competition’ for the winning look to be worn by Miss Universe Australia 2015 Monika Radulovic at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant.

Fashioned by Sydney’s Timothy Cubbo, the attire was one of the four costumes in the Seven breakfast show’s National Costume Competition and won 30,000 votes.

It features a glittery blue bodice with shoulder pads reminiscent of the sweeping sails Sydney Opera House, a flowing train fringed by Indigo feathers and the crowning glory, a lilac wig topped off with a giant set of cat-eye glasses.

Monika Radulovic modeled the costume, letting out a cheeky “Hello Possums”, Dame Edna’s iconic catchphrase, before weighing in on the design. “I’m feeling great – I love it,” the New South Wales stunner explained. “ It’s all the more reason to pitch our beautiful country and brag.”

The designer Cubbo admitted that the costume was influenced by drag queen fashion. Radulovic will adorn a purple wig, hiding her long brunette locks.

Dame Edna Everage has tweeted Cubbo in support of his design dedicated to her famous Aussie icon character.

Monika Radulovic was crowned Miss Universe Australia 2015 in June this year. The brunette beauty fled war-torn Bosnia with her parents when she was just four years old. She went on to attain an honors graduate in psychology and hopes to bring light to Dr Charlie Teo’s cure brain cancer foundation and ending world hunger through her ambassador role.

So what do you think of the Miss Universe Australia 2015 national costume?
