Miss Universe 2016 is now over and after 64 years France adorned the prestigious crown. Iris Mittenaere succeeds Pia Wurtzbach, and the beauty has embarked upon her journey as the reigning Miss Universe. Iris’ victory was well deserved and the world celebrated her crowning. So, did one of her friends from the Miss Universe 2016 batch and her roomie, Miss Universe Israel Yam Kaspers Anshel.
The youngest contender of Miss Universe 2016, Israel’s Yam Kaspers Anshel is known to be a people’s person and through this pageant journey she has made friends with many of her contenders. The beauty revealed on Monday night that the newly crowned Miss Universe, Iris Mittenaere, has promised to visit the Jewish state. Yam further added, “I’m holding her to that promise.” Yam made the revelation to the official media partner of MU 2016 ABS-CBN.
During the after party of Miss Universe 2016, Yam Kaspers Anshel told that she and Iris had been roommates and during the competition, both became “really good friends.” Although Yam couldn’t make it through the Top 13 finalists, she is happy to have visited the Philippines and met such amazing people. She feels like a winner and said, “just getting to know [the other contestants] and being here in the Philippines” makes her happy.
Yam also added that she is thrilled Mittenaere won the crown. “She is beautiful inside and outside. She deserves it so much,” Kaspers Anshel said. Iris, who is a dental student is now in New York, where she will be based till her reign ends. If rumours are to be believed, Iris could be the first openly gay titleholder. However, her sexuality should not bring any change as such to her title, if at all, it will only be an advancement to have an LGBT icon advancing equality. This could probably be the first step to bring in a huge change to the society.
Hailing from the fashion capital, for the past five years Iris has been occupied with her Dental Surgery degree. She has always been fond of extreme sports, travelling the world and cooking new French dishes. She describes herself as fresh, funny and caring. Iris enjoys making others happy, especially when volunteering at Bienvenue-Tongasoa and Les Bonnes Fées. She wants to advocate for dental and oral hygiene.
