25 years old Emily Kachote, who was crowned Miss World Zimbabwe 2015 on April 25’ 2015 has been dethroned. The news that had the whole social media in Zimbabwe talking, reported nude photos of Emily going viral on Whatsapp (messaging app). Emily’s dethroning paved way for the first runner-up, Annie Grace Mutambu, who would now be representing Zimbabwe at the Miss World 2015 pageant.

In a statement, the Miss Zimbabwe executive board claimed that Kachote had violated the rules and regulations governing the pageant. “The Miss Zimbabwe executive board would like to inform the nation that it has resolved to dethrone Miss Emily Kachote as Miss World Zimbabwe 2015. Early this month one of the local tabloids carried a story, which alleged that Miss Emily Kachote’s nude photos had appeared on a WhatsApp group. This was in violation of the rules and regulations governing the Trust which all the contestants appended their signatures to,” read the statement. As reported by sources, “Kachote was evasive and denied posing in the nude for the photos. She claimed that she was the victim of a malicious ex-boyfriend who filmed her secretly while she was drunk at a party and is out to tarnish her image.

Emily’s controversial images had been evoking hullabaloo and speculations about her getting dethroned, which finally got a rest with the confirmation from the organization. With Emily’s dethroning, this is the second time in a row that Zimbabwe has come under the controversial radar of dethroning.

Emily Kachote Miss World Zimbabwe 2015 winner dethroned

Last year's winner, Thabiso Phiri was dethroned due to reasons uncertain. The news sparkled frenzied speculations that she could have failed to fulfil the responsibilities that go with the beauty title because of her studies, had lied about her age, had put on weight, got pregnant or was previously married, however, she rejected all the accusations. The resignation of  Thabiso prompted the organization to an unplanned pageant and Catherine Makaya was chosen to represent Zimbabwe at the Miss World 2014. But, fate had to play a troll on Zimbabwe and Makaya who was expected to leave for the Miss World boot camp, dumped the Miss Zimbabwe organization and went to work with England-based Miss Zimbabwe Trust founding member Crispen Sachikonye instead. Hence, finally, the first runner-up Tendai Hunda was selected and sent to the Miss World 2014 pageant.

Seems like dethroning beauty queens are sort of a tradition in Zimbabwe now. Or maybe the policies and regulations of Miss Zimbabwe organization don’t really go well with the delegates. Whatever, the reason maybe, latest update says, Mutambu will now represent Zimbabwe at Miss World 2015 to be held on December 19 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China where reigning queen Rolene Strauss of South Africa will crown her successor.
