Keeping up with its annual tradition, Femina has issued their new pageant-inspired cover for the year 2016. The issue, as is the norm, features the reigning Miss India pageant winners. Every year Femina underscores the importance of pageants by featuring the winning beauties on its cover. The edition of magazine with the 3 winners gracing its cover is fondly anticipated by all pageant lovers. As Femina boasts of a large chunk of readership in India, featuring on the magazine’s cover gives these beauties a chance to become household names. It becomes an occasion for them to garner mass support from their own nation, before they participate in international pageants.

This time around the 3 pretty women -Priyadarshini Chatterjee (Miss India World 2016), Sushruthi Krishna (Miss India Supranational 2016), and Pankhuri Gidwani (Miss India Grand International 2016) – feature on the cover in short and sexy see-through dresses. The gorgeous women dazzle in the minimal-make up look and justify every bit of the ‘Miss India’ title that has been bestowed upon them.

However, this time around the issue drew flak from the fans of the pageant for featuring Bollywood Superstar Shahrukh Khan on the cover, alongside the winners. The critics of the issue felt that the presence of a Bollywood star is taking the limelight away from the ravishing ladies.
Though it was known from a long time that Shahrukh indeed will be a part of the cover, people are criticizing the magazine even more for the action after the cover has been issued. It is important to note that this is not the first time that Shahrukh has posed with the winners of the Miss India pageant on the cover of Femina. The year 2000 issue of the magazine also features him with the winners –Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, and Diya Mirza.
