María Fernanda Rodríguez Ávila was crowned Miss Costa Rica 2022 at the 67th edition of Miss Costa Rica which was held on 28th September 2022 at Estudio Marco Picado, Nunciatura, San José Province, San José, Costa Rica.

María Fernanda Rodríguez Ávila is 24 years of age and hails from San Carlos, Costa Rica. She is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese. The stunning beauty holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Maria bested eight other delegates to win the national crown.

Not new to the pageant world, in 2012, María Fernanda Rodríguez Ávila entered the Reina Teen Costa Rica Intercontinental 2012 and won it too. After that, she became Miss Teen Mesoamérica Internacional 2013.

Avila was also one of the finalists in Miss Teen Universe in 2015. In 2017, Ávila represented Costa Rica in Miss Earth 2017, she competed against 84 other contestants at the M Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Unfortunately, she did not get placed.

However, all of her experience and adventures in pageantry did not discourage her from chasing her dreams as she competed at Miss Costa Rica 2022 and won the crown. Avila succeeds and was crowned by Miss Costa Rica 2021 Valeria Rees. Valeria represented Costa Rica at Miss Universe 2021 but remained unplaced.

Miss Universe 2022, the 71st Miss Universe pageant, will be held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana in USA on 14th January 2023. Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
