Amidst all the controversies created by Imelda Schweighart about the newly crowned Miss Earth 2016, a latest scoop has been added to it. Imelda Schweighart has resigned from her duties as Miss Philippines Earth 2016. Yes that’s right..!!
The Organizers of Miss Earth and Miss Philippines Earth has accepted her voluntary resignation. According to reports, Imelda and her mother met executive vice president of Carousel Productions, Lorraine Schuck. However, Imelda also apologised for the video that went viral, but she did mention that there was nothing false about it.

"If it's a crime to tell the truth, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend Miss Ecuador. I don't know her enough but she was my roommate," said Imelda. "Honestly, I’m not bitter. I’m just offended. Why? Because the gown that I was supposed to wear was given to Ecuador. I was fitted the gown. I was just so offended. That time, I’m still in the heat of the moment, the gown that was placed in Miss Philippines’ cubicle was taken. That box, my gown named after me… I wasn’t able to wear it. Even Miss Guam made me borrow her gown… because I have nothing to wear," added Imelda.
After Imelda’s resignation, Miss Philippines Earth 2016 first runner-up Kiara Giel Gregorio will be taking up the responsibilities as the new Miss Philippines Earth 2016.
Imelda Schweighart failed to make it to the Top16 finalists of Miss Earth 2016 held at the Mall of Asia Arena last Saturday, October 29. Imelda has been surrounded with controversies ever since she was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2016. In fact, even after the finals of Miss Earth, she managed to grab more limelight then the winner herself.
