It was in 2013 that Philippines achieved its long-lost dream of bringing the Miss World crown home. Megan Young was crowned Miss World 2013 at the finale of the coveted pageant held on 28th September 2013 at Bali International Convention Center, South Kuta, Bali, Indonesia.

Ever since, although Philippines has managed to win strong placements in the consecutive editions, the dream of bringing of the second one home still remains to be seen. However, as a whole decade passes, it will be interesting to see Gwendolyne Fourniol, Philippines’ representative at 71st Miss World, to follow in Megan’s footsteps to bring second Miss World crown home.

Fourniol was born and raised in France to a Filipina mother Sim Fourniol and French father Thierry Fourniol. She is also pursuing her bachelor's degree in economics from the Oxford Brookes University in London, England. Her Beauty with a Purpose project is titled ‘Bridge the Gap, Build the Future’ which won her a lot of praise by the jury. With her advocacy, Gwen has been working hard with different stakeholders to raise funds and gather resources to make the ERDA Learning Hub a reality. Gwen Fourniol has also spent time at ERDA Foundation which has ignited the passion of helping others in her.

The Filipino-French beauty queen has represented her country with dedication and sincerity ever since her arrival in India to compete at the 71st Miss World. At the pre-pageant activities as well, Gwen placed in the Top 25 at the Head-to-Head Challenge, placed in the Top 23 at the Talent Competition and also in the Top 20 at the Top Model Challenge. 

With her strong advocacy, her stunning beauty and the drive to achieve the crown, Gwen is surely a strong contender for the Miss World 2023 crown. The whole country is hoping for her to win the second Miss World crown for the Philippines.
