Leona Gage was declared Miss USA 1957 on July 18’ 1957. She had not worn her tiara for more than 24 hours before pageant officials stripped her of the title. She was dethroned just one day after her winning the contest when her mother-in-law revealed that she was married with two children and that her real age was 18 and not 21, which was written on the application.
