Cameroon is all set to make its stellar debut at Miss Universe 2020 as Angèle Kossinda has been appointed the first ever Miss Universe Cameroon and will represent her country at the 2020 edition. Kossinda is definitely an ideal candidate and one of the strongest ones to make Cameroon shine at the international edition.

Background and Educational qualifications

Hailing from Douala, Cameroon, Kossinda’s appointment was officially announced on 5th March 2021. She stands 175 cm tall and holds a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance and a master’s degree in finance management.

Pageantry experience

Not new to the pageantry, Kossinda represented Cameroon at Miss Earth 2017, which was held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on 4th November 2017. While Kossinda finished in the Top 16 at Miss Earth 2017, it was Karen Ibasco of the Philippines who won the crown.

On 12th November 2019, Kossinda represented Cameroon at Miss International 2019 at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan where she remained unplaced. In the following month itself, on 6th December 2019, Kossinda represented Cameroon at Miss Supranational 2019 at the International Congress Centre in Katowice, Poland. She finished in the Top 25 and was also crowned Miss Supranational Africa 2019.

Before she represented Cameroon at these international stages, Kossinda was Miss Littoral 2016 and Miss Africa Continent 2017 third runner-up. She also finished in the Top 16 in Miss Global Heritage 2017.

On being appointed the first ever Miss Universe Cameroon

Kossinda sure knows the amount of burden she’s carrying as she represents Cameroon at the most prestigious pageant in the world. On her appointment, she took to her official social media as she wrote, “We learn everyday. Let me take this opportunity to thank all of you pageants bloggers and fans for the tremendous support since yesterday evening. I’m so overwhelmed and since I am realizing my dream to represent my country at @missuniverse while my voice is being heard , it’s my first time feeling this good and mostly more confident as a new entrant. Thank you infinitely for your tremendous strength. Much love.

A back to back win for Africa?

Kossinda takes immense honor in being the first ever Miss Universe Cameroon and believes that she will be able to perform her best on-stage and make the people back home proud and happy. If she wins Miss Universe 2020, it will be a back-to-back win for Africa as her predecessor is Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa.

It is without a doubt that Kossinda will be able to give a strong performance at the Miss Universe 2020 stage with all of her experience and knowledge of how these competitions work.

The 69th edition of Miss Universe i.e., Miss Universe 2020 is scheduled to take place on 16th May 2021 in Hollywood, Florida, USA at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino where Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
