Tamaryn Green Miss Universe South Africa 2018, our favourite for Miss Universe 2018

12 Dec 2018 | Irina Silva

From Paarl, Cape Town, Tamaryn Green is the official representative of South Africa in the ongoing Miss Universe 2018. She was crowned the national queen on 28th May 2018 as she defeated eleven other delegates to win the crown of Miss Universe South Africa 2018. The medical student in training to become a doctor soon, Tamaryn is another strong candidate in this year’s edition and one of our favourites for the coveted crown of Miss Universe 2018.

The 24-year-old diva is not just a medical student but also an actress who has reached zeniths at such a young age. She is also not new to the pageant world as Miss South Africa 2018 was her eight pageant participation. Her biggest feats in the field other than holding the national crown include being crowned Miss New Orleans and Miss Rochester. It will not be wrong to say that this beauty queen is not only beauty with brains but is also versatile in every way.

Being the sixth year medical student, which is the final year, at the University of Cape Town, Tamaryn has always been passionate about making a positive and progressive difference in the lives of others. She also wishes to bring the two worlds of fortunate and less fortunate together through her efforts.

Recently, she launched her ‘Break the Stigma’ campaign where she announced that her reigning year advocacy will be focusing on Tuberculosis. The advocacy is quite personal for her as she talked about her own battle with the disease in 2015. Her campaign focuses on eradicating the disease completely by 2030.

With the pressure of performing as well as the last year’s contestant Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters who was crowned Miss Universe 2017, Tamaryn definitely knows what the stakes are. Margaret Gardiner won the first ever Miss Universe 1978 title and then the second title came in last year. With Tamaryn’s representation, there surely are chances that South Africa might win the third crown this year.
