Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir clarifies the weight controversy of Miss Grand International 2016

A latest controversy has entered in the beauty pageant controversies list. Recently, there were rumours that Miss Iceland 2015 Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir, who is competing this year at the Miss Grand International 2016, has been told by the MGI owner that she is too fat and needs to lose weight before the grand final on Tuesday.

“Stop eating breakfast, eat just salad for lunch and drink water every evening until the contest,” was the advice passed on to Arna Ýr by the spokesperson of the founder and owner of the Miss Grand International beauty contest, Thai TV presenter Nawat Itsaragrisil.
 
Arna in an upset state replied to the advice and said, “If the owner of the contest really wants me to lose weight and doesn’t like me the way I am, then he doesn’t deserve to have me in the Top 10.” “Yes, my shoulders are a bit broader than the other girls’ but that is because I was a member of the Icelandic national athletics team and I am proud of that,” she continued.“Of course, I don’t take these comments to heart, but to do my best then hear this… Personally, I think I’m fine as I am,” she concluded.
 
 
However, later Arna came up with an Instagram clarification video of the whole matter, this time making sure to speak in English. In the video, Arna clarified her statement and said that her statement was modified during the translation. Check out her clarification video here...
