Asmaou Diallo crowned as Miss Guinea 2017

At the conclusion of the gala finale of Miss Guinea 2017, 23-year-old Asmaou Diallo was crowned as the winner. Asmaou defeated 23 other contestants to clinch the title. Asmaou succeeds Miss Guinea 2016 Safiatou Diallo. Asmaou will now represent Guinea at the Miss World 2017.

At the same pageant, Bah Fatoumata Diariou was adjudged first runner-up and Marie Angel Camara was titled second runner-up. Standing tall at 173cm, Asmaou is a graduate in finance and is also a model by profession. She had to leave her studies and her career as a model to pursue her dream of becoming a beauty queen. The theme of this year’s Miss Guinea pageant was '' schooling the girl '', which Asmaou was able to defend well in front of the jury members.

The Miss Guinea 2017 finale was held on 11th February 2017, and the twenty three finalists had to go through a series of preliminary rounds, including communication lessons, catwalk skills and interview sessions to make their way to the finals. Each contestant was given few minutes to speak over a given theme, in front of a prominent panel of judges. Among the many themes were violence against women, female genital mutilation, girls' schooling, and unsanitary conditions.

Miss World is one of the oldest beauty pageants amongst the Big 4 (four) international beauty pageants.
