Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina recently took part in the plenary session held at the House of Representatives on Monday (6th of March 2017) ahead of International Women's Dayon March 8th 2017. The Filipina beauty queen was invited to attend the All Women Session by Congresswoman Emi Calixto-Rubiano.

Medina received the House commendation during the session for her placement at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant. Maxine attended the event with her boyfriend actor and model Marx Topacio. Medina was much-admired during the session which commemorated the International Women’s Month.

In the resolution, the House commended Medina for her top six finish in the Miss Universe competition. “Ms. Maxine Medina provides an inspiring and shining example of grace under pressure, the beauty and grace of the Filipina in such a prestigious pageant,” the House resolution read. The resolution further added, “Even though Maxine did not win, she received praises from all sectors of our society for her excellent performance during the pageant.”

During the event, there were many who delivered privilege speeches over concerns including those close to women—breast cancer awareness, extended maternity leave, and reproductive health.

Maxine Medina, who represented Philippines at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, bore the pressure of bringing a back to back victory to the country. She also had to face criticism for answering the question and answer portion in English even after being criticized for her communication skills.

However, it’s all history now, and after successfully delivering her best at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, Maxine will now pass on her crown to her successor at the finals of Bb Pilipinas 2017 to be held in the month of April. Maxine further wants to explore a career in acting and is not closing doors on any opportunity.
