The Miss Malaysia World on Monday (6th March 2017) took to instagram to make a shocking revelation of dethroning the current title holder, Tatiana Kumar Nandha. “It has come to our attention that there is a breach of our Code of Conduct and contract by the reigning Miss Malaysia World 2016 Tatiana Kumar.

We wish to announce that, after due consideration, with effect 6/3/17, Ms Tatiana Nandha Kumar will no longer be the title holder for Miss Malaysia World 2016.

We are also pleased to announce that Ms Shweta Sekhon (previously 1st runner-up) will now be the winner of Miss Malaysia World 2016/17.

After Tatiana’s dethronement, first runner-up Shweta Sekhon was named as the new Miss Malaysia World 2016/17. Anna Lin was the national director and official licensee for Miss Malaysia World from 2013 to 2016. Lin revealed that Tatiana and her family made several offensive comments over the internet about the Miss Malaysia World Organisation. "There are certain formalities, and she has also breached one involving an important sponsor. This has led to the contract being terminated," added Lin.

Tatiana represented Malaysia at Miss World 2016 held in December in Maryland, the United States. Tatiana's father, Kumar Nandha, confirmed that she had been served a legal letter about the termination through email on March 3. "She has done nothing wrong," he added, but declined to comment further.
