We all saw the pure rage amongst Binibinig Pilipinas 2018's candidate Binibini 20 Catriona Gray’s fans when Binibining Pilipinas 2017 Mariel De Leon said that her answers seemed ‘just a little bit scripted’ during the Road To The Crown event at Binibining Pilipinas 2018.

Catriona’s fans were outraged at such a bashing of their favourite queen, while she herself stayed mum about it. Even during the event, Catriona took Mariel’s question as the constructive criticism it was supposed to be, and continued to answer the former queen’s question. 

However, in a shocking turn of events, Mariel went all out in making snide comments on social media. Although Mariel did not mention Catriona’s name in her tweets, it is quite evident to Catriona’s fans, that she is the subject of the comments.

For a beauty queen, that is the one really harsh comment.

Mariel might not have made this comment for Catriona but rather, her fans who weren’t ready to take the comment as something originated from a good place.

Now that is where the beauty queen did go downhill a little bit.

She later received support from Miss International Philippines 2017 Katarina Rodriguez, who stood up for sisterhood.

Catriona, however, took the high road, and informed her fans about the whole situation in detail. She informed them how it was a misconception that Mariel had bashed her. She talked about how every advice of her former beauty queens were words of wisdom to her, and that she highly appreciated it.

Hey beautiful people! I know alot of you watched #RoadToTheCrown last night shot in the very beautiful Las Casas, Bataan. My sisters and I had so much fun!!!

However, I've also noticed that alot of you have taken a comment given to me during the show in a negative way. 
Firstly, any advice from our queens is valuable to us Binibinis and I took all of those given to me, in a very constructive way! I always have something to learn and improve on, that's why one of my greatest passions is education!!
Secondly, everyone is entitled to their opinion and although at times you may not favour it, it doesn't give a good reason to turn around and try to hurt others through bullying or bashing. 
Be passionate, but be mindful. Let's cultivate an environment, not just in beauty pageants but in society in general, where we argue like we're right but listen like we're wrong. Debate is healthy, bashing is not.

It is important to note, that in this feud, that was created mostly by fans only, the famous sisterhood amongst beauty queens prevailed, as Catriona, Mariel, and Katarina came and stood together at the end of the day.

so this u-turn to a publicized, blown-out-of-proportion, and misleading feud, was only filled with more power to the sisterhood of beauty queens, and more understanding and love amongst women.
