13 Jan 2018 | Srishti Jain

BPCI (Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated) has released its official list of titles that will be crowned in Binibining Pilipinas 2018 and the title of Binibining Pilipinas - Grand International is nowhere to be found in the list of titles to be crowned. Now the question arises that whether the pageant has dropped Miss Grand International pageant franchise?

If you check the official website of Binibining Pilipinas, you’ll see that there’s no Miss Grand International link indicated in the list of ‘Binibining Pilipinas’ queens. The once that are present are –

Miss Universe Philippines

Bb. Pilipinas International

Miss Globe Philippines

Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental

Bb. Pilipinas Supranational

Has Binibining Pilipinas dropped Miss Grand International franchise?

Though no official announcement has been made by BPCI yet but the speculation is very strong. The Grand International pageant franchise was first taken up by BPCI in 2016. Nicole Cordoves was crowned Binibining Pilipinas – Grand International 2016 and she was 1st runner-up of Miss Grand International 2016. In the subsequent year Elizabeth Clenci was crowned Miss Grand Philippines 2017 and she was 2nd runner-up at Miss Grand International 2017.

One thing is clear though that BPCI do have an eye for a good candidate for an international pageant like Miss Grand International.

There are thousands of applications for Binibining Pilipinas every year with a hope to get selected in the final 40 and with this news they would surely be disappointed.

There has been a slight change in the selection criteria also for the final selection this year. Read here to know more.
