Binibinis receive bashing post Bb Pilipinas 2018 finale

22 Mar 2018 | Irina Silva

It’s easy to target beauty queens right after a finale night. They have generally slipped up in the question and answer round or just simply not pleased everyone on the planet with their answer. These queens work hard and study hard to prepare for the gala, because “World Peace” is not the answer to all the questions. Judges test the beauties on their general knowledge, and the questions can be as hard as competitive exams’.

But even after a beauty has given her best shot at a question, self-acclaimed critics pop up in different parts of the world just to point out the problems with their answers.

Something similar happened with the answers of two Binibinis Miss Philippines Intercontinental 2018 winner Karen Gallman, and Binibini 35 Sandra Lemonon have been facing widespread bashing on social media for their answers during the question and answer round of the Top 15 finalists at Binibining Pilipinas grand coronation night.

Karren Gallman’s Q/A round:

Question- Do you think a third restroom should be built for trans, why or why not?

Answer - I definitely think that there should be a third restroom for transgenders because as women or men, they need the privacy. And the separate room for transgenders just serves as a equality and privacy.

Karen had come from a place of concern and was pretty shaken by the pressure of the finale night, like every other girl present on that stage. Her bashing for the statement got so extreme, that she had to come forward to clarify what she had said.

She wrote in an Instagram post, “If I had my moment again with the composure I needed in those 30 seconds, the words that didn’t resonate for me in that moment were to be, ‘Yes, I believe there should be a third restroom for transgenders. However, only as an alternative for those who are yet to fully embrace such a transitional change.”

Sandra Lemonon’s Q/A round:

Question: What are your insights on the government’s ‘Build, Build, Build’ program?”

Answer: The insights of the government’s ‘Build, Build, Build’ program. Actually, I studied so much for this Q&A, but suddenly that’s something that I really don’t know much about. But, at least I’m here trying to answer a good question. Thank you!

Sandra gave one of the most honest and graceful answers, to when a contestant doesn’t know the answer, in the history of pageantry. And that was not it, her personality as a healthy competitor was on display when she cheered on for Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray during the show.

Even then, she received bashing for not being prepared for the event. However, she unapologetically owned her answer and stuck to it. She told a section of the media, “When I had that question, I said, ‘This is not for me,'” Lemonon said. “I really, really think that on that night, Catriona — she’s a really good friend of mine — she really deserved to win. On that night, even if I gave a good answer, I felt like it was not my time yet. I really felt like something happened for a reason.”

Now, this is how a queen deals with haters!
