Binibining Pilipinas 2019 held its grand coronation night on 9th June 2019 where six beauties were crowned to represent Philippines in various international beauty pageants. Even though the audience seemed happy with the results, there was one particular Binibini who was a mega favourite of the crowd but unfortunately failed to win any placement at the end of the event finale.

Vickie Marie Rushton impressed everyone at the beginning of the coronation night as she cornered six of the ten sponsor awards last night, making it clear that she was clearing her way to the top from the very beginning. Even if her eyes were set on the Miss Universe Philippines crown, it was well rested within everyone’s minds that she would be taking home at least one placement, even if it was not the Miss Universe Philippines’ title.

The reason behind her fall is credited to nothing but her Question and Answer round. As Vickie successfully made it to the Top 15 with her exemplary performance, her nervous tick followed her to the Q/A round. For everyone else, it was surprising because her advocacy and the question she was asked were co-related and to think she would have nailed it easily.

For her, her nervousness and losing her train of thought were the reasons she could not successfully make it through the round and she tirelessly tried to process her thought in the short span of thirty seconds but could not reach the main part of her answer without the timer going off on her.

This was her second try at Binibining Pilipinas competition and with such high hopes riding on her throughout the competition, Vickie sure tumbled in the weight of the expectations of the people around her. Even though Former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach showered her support on the delegate by saying nerves could happen to anyone performing at such an important stage, the truth of the matter is Vickie lost an amazing opportunity this year and more than her the country lost out on an immensely talented and competent contestant to represent at an international level.

We do hope, though, that she tries her final chance next year at the competition and win a title because her talent and hard work is seen in her performances and a woman like her can sure set any stage on fire with her determination.
