Binibining Pilipinas 2020 delegates share their advocacies using art

27 Feb 2020 | Abigail Henry

Binibining Pilipinas 2020 hosted an art session yesterday at Gateway Mall, Araneta City, where the delegates spent their best time to tap on their creative side and expressed their advocacies using their artistic styles.

While the National Arts Month was being celebrated, the delegates were also given a tour of the museum earlier by curator Mr. Gari Apolonio, who provided the candidates a quick lecture on the exhibited artworks. Last time’s visit at the museum provided the Binibining Pilipinas candidates a quick blast from the past courtesy of the artworks lined up at the museum's SiningSaysay: Philippine History in Art exhibit.

As the artistic month is about to end, the Gateway Gallery once again opened its doors to the girls for an afternoon of art expression and aesthetic. The Binibining Pilipinas candidates were mentored by Philippines’ finest watercolorists Mr. Jen Utleg Consumido, Mr. Joemari Sanclair Chua, Mr. Dan Macapugay and Mr. Carlo Cortez in enhancing the ladies’ creativity on visualizing and translating advocacies into works of art.

Art at its root, is an expression and the artist is an expresser, translating in order to create meaning. Art expresses and translates, art acknowledges and reveals, art transfers and art intervenes. It is an expression made visible by a form. The divas, being the expressers of their advocacies, used their creative styles by forming it into an art piece. They beautifully portrayed their agendas and the causes they will work upon. Their pieces of art will also be available for viewing at the Gateway Mall, Ali Mall, and Farmers Plaza.

Being guided by the watercolorists and artists, the beauties listened closely to the mentors and did their best by forming unique portraits, abstracts, caricatures, etc. Below are the divas with their amazing artworks –
