Chelsea Bruce has been crowned as Miss Delaware 2017. She will now further represent her state in the national pageant, Miss America 2018, to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersy, on September10, 2017. The finale will be broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Miss America 2017 Savvy Shields from Arkansas will officially crown her successor.
During the competition, each contestant was judged on four criteria: swimsuit, formal, question and talent. Miss Delaware 2017 crown was passed to Chelsea Bruce, who is originally from New Jersey and continues to work along-side her platform of De-Stigmatizing Mental Illness.
“The past three years, I just came to Delaware because I’m a student at University of Delaware and the community here has given me so much,” said Bruce. “I just wanted to do something to help serve the community.” “It feels amazing. I really wasn’t expecting it,” said Miss Delaware. She further added, “and my favorite part was learning and getting to know everyone. It was all amazing.”
Miss Delaware Scholarship Organization celebrates 75 years of Empowering Women to help make a better tomorrow. Many former Miss Delaware’s were present during the event including former Miss Delaware 2016 Amanda Debus.
