Cheyenne Buyert, Miss Sheridan County, was crowned as Miss Wyoming in the pageant Saturday night at Sheridan's WYO Theater. Buyert said that her selection came as a huge surprise for her.

She will now represent her state at the Miss America 2018 to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on September10, 2017. The event will be broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Miss America 2017 from Arkansas, Savvy Shields will officially crown her successor.

Buyert's platform is “Winning with One.” In an interview with Sheridan Media earlier this year, she said that she is diabetic and she is trying to spread awareness and advocate for those who have the disease.

There were only three teen contestants and five Miss Wyoming contestants this year. But numbers weren't the whole story, talent of contestants is what matters the most.

Cheyenne also competed for the title of Miss Wyoming previous year but couldn’t make it. This year she proved herself and won the prestigious title for her state. Jordyn Hall was the reigning Miss Wyoming. She passed the crown and responsibilities to Cheyenne Buyert at the event and signed off on the stage for the last time.

She donned herself with a beautiful red gown at the pageant. The theme of this year's pageant was “Happily Ever After,” a tribute to the music of Walt Disney. The new Miss Wyoming and Miss Wyoming Outstanding Teen will represent the state in national competitions later this year.
